Most overseas Filipino workers dream of having a fair and kindhearted employer. Indeed, if you found yourself at the hands of a kind and generous employer, consider yourself lucky! This is especially true for OFWs who work at the Middle East, because there have been many cases of abuse involving OFWs there. But this Pinay worker won the lottery after being placed with a generous employer!

Che Borres shared her inspirational story on Facebook. She has been working as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia for more than two years now.

But during that short span of time, she has already visited five countries! Her generous employer always tags her along in their international travels.

According to Che, she’s grateful for having a kind employer. Back when she was still a kid in the Philippines, Che only dreamed of going to places such as London. But now, here dreams are finally a reality! Che has toured European countries, with all expenses paid for by her kindhearted boss.

When she left the Philippines, she was only hoping to have a decent boss, so you can just imagine Che’s happiness when she found a boss who also treated her like family. She also advised her fellow OFWs to not give up hope, after all, not Arab employers are cruel and heartless.

“Chemo day while learning. There’s always a silver lining in every challenge that we face. For us, it is the emergence of online class. Thank you anak for showing resilience. And thank you mommy for yor patience. Kidding aside, baka di na maka-absent ibang bata dahil sayo anak ah. To god be the glory,” ayon kay syon kay Richard.

Millions of people all over the world has been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from the dreaded virus, many also suffered from lack of employment amid the lockdown. Even people with high-paying professions had to take a step back, as the pandemic caused a lot of businesses in various industries to shut down.

But at the end of the day, what matters is how we play the cards we’re dealt with. This is precisely what happened to Albert Alcance, a Filipino freelancer and head of operations at Homesvil. Albert’s inspirational story has inspired many people on social media.

Just like most of us, Albert also lost his job amid the pandemic. But what’s even more challenging is he had to take a step back after building his career for years.

In a post that was originally shared on LinkedIn, Albert opened up about his struggles amid the pandemic. According to him, in just a matter of months, he lost his title as an executive in his company.

“In case someone needs to know, even the best fall down sometimes. Before COVID-19, I hold fancy titles that I earned through the years, spending thousands of hours learning to improve my skills. But we play the cards we are dealt with and in my case, starting all over again,” wrote Albert.

Yet instead of moping, he decided to do something about his situation. He’s one of the founder of an e-commerce platform that delivers fresh produce and seafoods to their customers. Since they have no budget to hire more employees, Albert picks up the seafoods at the fish port all by himself at 2:00 a.m.

Indeed, his resiliency and creativity is inspiring! He also left words of wisdom to people who are also going through a tough time. Albert advised them to not be afraid of failing, but instead find a better way to bounce back.

“Tough times never last but tough people do. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

Lolo na Walang Pambili ng Face Mask, Napaiyak Matapos Itong Gawin sa Kanya ng Sundalo sa Checkpoint!

For almost nine months now, the government has imposed several strict guidelines to curb the spread of coronavirus in the Philippines. Nationwide, people in public are required to wear face mask and face shield as a precautionary measure. Experts believe that proper hygiene and correct mask-wearing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of this highly-transmissible disease.

Law enforcement authorities are strict when it comes to regulating proper mask-wearing in public. Under the Bayanihan Act, they are also authorized to penalize anyone violating this.

However, this ‘solution’ also poses a problem for a big part of the population. Not all people are capable of buying face masks and face shields.

So in order to avoid penalties, some less fortunate families have to resort to desperate measures just to get a face mask. Earlier this month, a photo of an elderly man in Cauayan City, Isabela, spread on social media. The man had no money to buy a proper face mask and face shield, so he made an alternative shield using banana leaves.

The elderly man passed by a checkpoint on Brgy. Alinam on his bike. PSSG Mark Anthony Ramirez noticed his bizarre face mask and stopped him.

They found out that the elderly man doesn’t have enough money to buy a proper face shield. Instead of penalizing him, PSSG Ramirez decided to help the elderly man!

He provided him with a proper N-95 face mask to protect himself from the virus. He also shared some kind words to the old man and commended him for being resourceful just to follow the regulations. The Cauayan City Police Station shared his heartwarming story on social media.

As expected, this man’s pitiful situation earned the empathy of the netizens. Many people reached out to him to extend help. They also praised the kindhearted PSSG for his initiative in helping the old man.
